The Ides of March
In like a lion, out like a lamb as the old saying goes. Well, here we are on the Ides and it's just another snowy day on Peaks Island. The natives are getting grumpier and grumpier. It is definitely time for a change of pace. I just returned walking to the island library following some car tracks to keep out of the ever increasing snow depth. I do enjoy walking down the middle of Island Avenue late on a Saturday morning never having to move out of the way; try that in August!!
At least on those days it's not snowing, the sounds of ever increasing amounts of birds can be heard from the early morning on. As of yesterday our yard had more bare ground than snow. At 4o plus degrees and some sun it definitely felt like an early spring day. Going into town last night for dinner with an old friend, I even saw three large SUV's roll off the car ferry packed to the gills; good grief, they're returning like the swallows to Capistrano. As the old saying goes, to know us is to love us! Hopefully, the next set of pictures will show nothing but early flowers and lots of mud and tons of sun. For today, stay dry and at least try and enjoy the beauty of a wet, spring snow as it just sticks on the branches.
